People of all walks of life can learn to fly … and they do. I was a single working mother of 3 when I earned my Private Pilot SEL rating in 2003 (I had logged my first hours 20 years prior). My life was more than hectic. Many times my lessons were scheduled last minute. If I suddenly found myself with a couple hours of free time, I would call the local airport and ask if there were any instructors available. My kids spent lots of time doing their homework and ‘hangar flying’ at the airport. My oldest daughter (25) now has 10 hours logged, and my youngest daughter (15) plans to begin lessons soon.
There is no feeling that can compare to awesome exhileration of being able to get into your vehicle (flying machine) and get out of the world for a while.
As a man in the video says, “once you get your pilots license, you are a pilot … its is part of who you are”.
